im a mod on a site (withheld address) and have come up with an idea to run a monthly competition for our members...

we need some guidance on how we would pick a random winner?

is there any kind of program to help out?

Since this site has members, it likely has a user database. All forum software does. So generate a random number and go in the database and see what user that is. Many programing languages have random number generator libraries. Perhaps you can find a ready made sweepstakes or drawing plugin for your site software.
