basically I have 10 years of restaurant experience under my belt, but what professional company is going to look at that anyway.
I have 2 months of full-time reporting now that I graduated college and got a new job.

But I hate it. I hate chasing things down. My quality of life is horrible and I'm far away from my family.

I just don't see a reason to stay besides not looking like a quiter.

But this job is hard to do if you're not into it. It's hard to pay attention at meetings and that sort of stuff.

What should I do? I will have a response from a job I applied to before I got this one, but if it doesn't come through should I start actively seeking another position or just quit.

I have to drag myself there everyday. I guess I just chose the wrong job.

I would stick it out a bit longer than two months. Don't quit... start looking for new opportunities. If you interview, employers are going to ask about why you left after such a short period of time so be prepared with solid reasons indicating why the job wasn't working out for you that don't reflect poorly on yourself and certainly don't speak poorly of the company. If you just quit, you are most likely going to be put in the position of explaining why the job only lasted 2 months AND why you had a period of unemployment.

And don't forget, experience in the restaurant industry can translate to experience in other fields. You are required to deal with a huge range of people/situations/tasks in ten years, and that all builds in to what makes you a great choice for any potential employer.

Good luck and I hope you hear from the other job you applied for so you don't have to keep dragging yourself through each day!

WELCOME TO BEING AN ADULT! Just kidding, kind of...anyway, I say you should go for whatever makes you happy even if you feel a bit flaky about it. Its just a job, right? Now, you do have to consider your bills and future employers calling this current one to find out what kind of employee you were. Maybe you should give it 6months to a year...sometimes it takes that long to truly know if you fit in that job. If you still hate it than QUIT and go after something else. GOOD LUCK.
