I've seen one myself, and my younger sister has seen two at different times.

Is it something new? Is it from breeding w/ the oriental orange wannabe ladybugs? It really is pink, and I want to know if that bug was a fluke pink, or is it more common.

the Coleomegilla maculata, judging from the photos, thats not what I saw....it has extra shell around the neck area....

i saw a normal ladybug, just with a pink shell, so mainly dome-like with the little black head at the tip of the dome.

Ok, well I have read your update. The genus Coccinella contains no pink variant, nor does Cycloneda. Cycloneda species are also spotless. I did find the species Neoharmonia venusta which appear pink and matches your description of the head.

But for anyone else who is wondering:
Yes there are other pink ones. The species Coleomegilla maculata (common name pink spotted lady beetle) , they vary in colour from pink to red.

(The ladybug is only known as a ladybug in North America, most scientists call them lady beetles and the rest of the world calls them ladybird beetles.)

They are commonly called "pink spotted lady beetle". The scientific name is "Coleomegilla maculata".

Per additional details: Could it be "Psyllobora vigintimaculata"?
