They want to ban regular light bulbs in people's houses:

Yet the Patriot act may or may not prevent terrorism, but the Dems are FURIOUS about it!

I would rather have a wiretapped phone than no light bulbs in my house. Those fluorescent bulbs aren't worth beans. You need 3 of them to be as bright as a regular bulb.

Thats the liberal hypocracy. They scream and cry about people violating someones rights, when they want to control everything anyone does, even if its in the home. Their goal is a total socialist government where they dictate everything that can and cannot be done. They will of course reserve the right to name call when confronted with their lies and hypocracy.

I also see a few posts about there being no right to plastic bags in the constitution and other neo-lib babble. There is also no "Right" to murder an unborn child or violate someones religious rights by insterting inaginary Seperation clauses, but the liberals found it in they're "Living Document".

Excuse me? Liberals are the ones who fight for our human and civil rights you ignoramus! Liberals are the ones who would do without government (borderline anarchists) if people could only take responsibility for themselves, which the public continues to prove they can't do on their own. In my state it's the right wing conservatives that passed the smoking ban. Buy the f***in' light bulbs that last longer are cheaper to run and waste less energy, because it's the right thing to do, not because your so ignorant that the government feels like they need to put a law in place to encourage human decency. And FYI, not all Democrats are liberals! And can you tell me why none of the conservatives on here allow email? You have no problem with the government tapping your phone without a court order, something that's blatantly unconstitutional. Yet you're bitching about having to use a paper bag to carry your groceries home.

I don't recall a single passage in the constitution that describes a citizens right to have plastic bags or incandescent light bulbs... If you can't see the difference between that and the right to your own privacy, I pity you.

Frankly, I don't think laws about plastic bags or light bulbs are particularly relevant, and I'd be tempted to vote those people out of office next time around, but these are not constitutional issues. The patriot act very much IS a constitutional issue.

preventing someone from fuming a public place with carcinogens is quite different from taking away a civil right that is protected by the bill of rights.
Interesting that so many think the Clinton should have done more to stop terrorists when GWB claims the the patriot act is a "must have" in the war on terror. more terrorists now than there was then, sounds about as effective as the DEA and the war on drugs.

I am familiar with the Bill of Rights and the Constitution generally. Do you feel that somewhere plastic bags, smoking and light bulbs are rights? Perhaps you are alot more liberal than you yourself recognize. If you have a right to all of these things likely you are the same person who doesn't mind people who get welfare using my tax dollars for cigarettes and getting medical care for the diseases caused by the cigarettes my tax dollars bought.

The far left wants to cheery pick the Constitution. If they want some measure passed, they cite it as being a right. If they don't.... they they scream foul and violation of this or that amendment.

All of the far left that screams about the Patriot Act and how its taking their freedoms away. But, I can not find a single one of them that can tell me exactly what freedom's they have lost.

The founding father's are spinning in their graves at how especially the First and Fourth amendment have been bastardized.

It was not ment to promote porn and gay rights (First amendment) nor was it meant to allow you to transport kilos of Heroin and a dead body in your trunk (Fourth amendment).
