If they want to say things encouriging participation in the democratic process, then more power to them. Why do they try to tell us how to vote, for whom to vote and how to live our lives?

They too have freedom of speech. Everybody deserves to be heard and be able to say what they think without fear of reprisal....even the very famous. Anybody that thinks will not base their opinions on what others think. They will search their own mind and heart and form their decisions from that....not because Britney Spears says so or the like. This is a time of strong feelings in this country and a huge divide in the public. Some say support the troops...send more to Iraq. Some say support the troops and stop Bush's Iraqi meatgrinder and bring them home. Each person has to carefully think what is right to them and proceed accordingly. To me, I cannot justify brave Americans dying for a lie and because one little coward does not have the guts or grace to admit he is wrong.

Hollywood types think they are more important than what they really are. They are surrounded with yes-men who are always telling them how great they are. They truly believe that a normal middle class citizen thinks the same way, because there is no one telling them differently. To quote a great shirt I saw on the subway "I didn't vote and I didn't die F**k you Puff Daddy"

Many people want to influence the world in the way they see fit. When one is a celebrity they can influence opinions with their fame. By asking this question you are doing the same, in this way. It's just something we have to accept about each other as concerned people.

Acting is their job...that is like saying that cashiers should stick to taking money and lawyers should stick to law and janitors should stick to floors. Everyone has other interest and talents other than their job....They may get national attention but I am sure that their are ordinary people that get local or state wide attention because of the noise they are making about some political opinion.

I think that people who have a higher influence on society, namely celebrities, SHOULD make an effort to try and shape the world. Especially if it is in a positive way. I think actors and musicians who think their art has nothing to do with their communities are ignorant to the fact that everything they do is watched closely and they should set good examples. Nothing wrong with being active in your country and community, we need more like them.

They are free to speak their minds. But for the most part, their political speech only shows that the most intelligent things they've said were written by someone else.

They are entitled to their first amendment rights, just like anybody else.

Well, since most of 'em can't even act, I 'spose the next best thing they could come up with is political babbling. It's truly amazing how stupid and cloistered most of 'em sound when they start mumbling their sad little tales about how they FEEL.

The best that can be said about 'em is that they need to get out more - lots more!

They think because people respect them for their talent that it means that we will also respect their views. and unfortunately a lot of people will base their views on what a celebrity says or how they think.

I am still waiting to see the legalized rape that Cameron Diaz warned us all about if we elected George Bush again over John F'ing Kerry

Because they can't act either. Gotta do something besides prance around patting each other on the back while wearing the most over priced and hideous trash then could find to hang on their backs.

Unfortunately they suffer the delusion that since they play parts of presidents and other politicians it makes them uniquely qualified to try and influence other people.Mmmm I have seen plenty of movies I think that makes me uniquely qualified to be a actor?
