Depression after break up.

Yes, I am excercising and trying to occupy myself with work but I can't.

I am unable to concenrate on work or any activity I used to enjoy.

The obsessive thoughts are coming again & again, and I feel total helpless. I don't want her but I want my peace of mind back so that I can concentrate on my work.

I feel your pain.

Um, you can never go back to that peace of mind your seeking. This journey through unrequited love will give you maturity if you allow it to happen. The instead of a goal of denying the pain, create a new goal for yourself on positive life changes you need and want. These should include materialistic, charitable, and spiritual goals for you to strive for.

Once you have these goals you can start with small phrase like "I'm good" and each time your mind drifts into complaigning repeat "I'm good" 20 times. Then once the urge has passed focus on what you want in life ... who you want to be ... what you can offer to others ... what intamacy means to you.

In short, don't run from the pain but accept it and find a way to use it to your advantage.

No one has to live with depression. If you broke your leg would you have posted the same q? No,you need to seek professional help.I strongly recommend medication, but at the least you need to see a therapist.Therapy is great to sort trough your feelings, see where they come from and how to deal with them.Find a good psychiatrist or therapist and you will be on your way back.Good luck.

Time will take care of it. I went through a bad break up once and it was 6 months before I could actually focus on anything. Probably a year before I really felt happy again. "Fake it until you make it".

Ask your doctor to give you an anti-depressant. Something like trazadone will help you sleep at night and you can focus more during the day - you'll have less bad thoughts. Good luck! You'll get through it.

I understand how you feel. I went through this after getting out of a domestic violence situation. What helped me was to get out. I did alot of things with my children, friends and family. If there was an fmaily event and didn't want to go, they came and got me. My family and friends helped me get through it. So would say surround yourselve with loved ones. If you need to talk, laugh or cry, do it with them and not by yourself.
