You are in a boat close to enemy waters, next second your surrounded and outgunned. Surely this reeks of incompetance or were they fast asleep.

I was in the Navy and being on the water in a small boat, it's not easy to see especially if you are moving up and down in the waves. Another small boat can move in quite easily especially if it can move fast.
Just because you see something doesn't mean you need to turn and run, especially if you are where you are supposed to be. They probably didn't realize who surrounded them until they were under duress and under fire.

A lot of unanswered questions about this situation, the Brits may well have seen them, but they only had small arms, the Iranians had big weapons, that's the main excuse.
However the Brits had a very heavily armed helicopter that could have sorted out any Iran boat, why didn't they??
If you bear in mind that these Republican guards are all religious nutters you can imagine the immediate result, they wouldn't go into diplomatic discussions over the situation would they?? They would do their 'gung ho' bit!! And go in guns blazing.
The big question I suppose is where do we go from here?
They could release the Brits and still claim a victory, having got them to 'confess' they can take them to court, jail them, and claim a bigger victory.
In the meantime what will the Brits do? Keep losing face or react with force?
I would take this as 'personal' between the Brits and Iran, I am sure the Brits could knock all the cr*p out of Iran on their own, dont forget they would not be trying to unite the country, just give them a bloody nose!!
I think the first step after the diplomatic BS dies down will be a rescue bid by Brit forces, surely they can find them with all the technical stuff they have?
If that fails, who knows? Do the Brits write this loss off or take it further??
No use waiting for the UN to say something 'nasty' to Iran is it? No one bothers about the UN any more!

How were they outgunned ? we have a British naval vessel with trained personell on board, fully armed, with satnav and rx comms, and they are walked over by some loonies in a boat shouting their heads off and threatening to open fire. The captain should have ordered his command to open fire, with everything capable of causing damage to a pirate, which is what they were. Have they no pride, or is it just another paid job with a good pension?, a bit like most politicians today, all take, little risk, with an unbeatable pension scheme..

because they were unpatriotic Democrats and were more interested in the well being of the Iranians.

they thought it was a Republican welcoming committee.

they thought they were only fishing. since they had ak47's, they thought it was Deep Sea fishing.'

they found out that Democrats want to undermine Freedom by being wussies and ending the war, so they just gave up.

I think they were being very clever and avoiding unnnecessary provocation. The Iranians could have been ready to open fire on them-
most likely the UK CO just told them to play along and keep a level head.

talking of photograpic evidence provided by Blair regarding the exact location of the 15 Brits at the time of being arrested, i suddenly remembered how Colin Powell confidently provided photograpic evidence in the UN security council accusing the Iraqi of transferring WMD from place to place , then the war started..... , who say history will not repeat itself.

That is a good question.
It expose the sea-scouts were just doing their jobs and not in messing with the ghost in planet of apes.
Somehow on their return they got hijack by the pirates in making a mess out there in planet of apes.
If the sea-scout had known the ghost was around.
Surely they will set off the fire-crackers in scaring the ghost out there in planet of apes.
It seemed the pirates were kicking the butts of their own dirty old men in office in making a monkey out of them with ghostly stories that change from time to time in making a monkey out of themselves in planet of apes.
How embarassing to called themselves the greatest modern civilization were still primitive in planet of apes.
Do not even know what is blunders and slip-ups with human errors in planet of apes.
Do not even know what is peace on earth goodwill to men in planet of apes.
Were making a mess with the loss of peace on earth goodwill to men in making a monkey out of themselves in planet of apes.
