As much as you can. If you have kids, it will probably be less than you want unless it is late at night or early morning.
I learned this through the school of hard knocks.

There is no rule for this. Everybody has answered about the same here, but they all forget something: is not that easy to say “whenever they feel like” because is not always thet the couple will feel like having sex at the same time.
In general, the girl is the one who commands in this topic as the guy will have sex when she wants it. If she doesn’t wants it, then he shouldn’t force her, nor she should do it because he is asking.
Most people out there (as per some polls) have about 2 to 4 times a week, average is 3. And forget about her period-week as not everybody likes to have sex at that time.
Of course, you will find couples that they both like to have sex so they do it as often as possible (once per day, 4or 5 times a week, or even 4 or 5 times a day! LOL). Other will be low in their sex drive so they will be maybe once a week. Others (and this is the common case) one person likes it more than the other, so they have to sacrifice for each other many times. Sometimes you will get a girl trying to please him (even when she is not feeling like having sex) but she enjoys pleasing her man, and she does it because she wants to (different from being forced into it). It could be the other way too, but is a rare case.
In most cases, the couple “learns” to know when to have sex. And also they can learn that sex can bring them closer, and usually the sex drive in a couple goes from a very active sexual life at the beginning, to a medium to low after some time, and back again to a “healthy” active sexual life after they get to know each other better.
But for sure, don’t set a rule for this, as it will become predictable and boring. Let it be a surprise, and mix it with planned sex, and you will enjoy it a lot more, and will be able to have it more often.

When I was living with my husband (he moved out 3 weeks ago), we had sex 4-5 times per week. He obviously didn't leave for those reasons! HA HA.
I think it depends on the couple, whether they have kids and a lot of other things play into it.

There is no set amount, it's entirely up to each couple. There are many factors that come into play such a being exhausted, either one mad, children, bad day at work and medical reasons are just a few examples that may affect your sex life.Talking to each other is the only way to find out what may be the problem if there is one.

we've been married for 9 months. And I think there's no exact number a married couple should have sex. As long as they want it. Sometimes as many as they want. sometimes one time a week. It depends on their mood and their body.

It depends on alot of different things. If there's a lack of sex, it could be kids, stress, kids,;} money, bills, job, age,a whole host of things.
You have to go by the desires in the beginning, as we all change so does the sex
Hope this helps

It may be enough for her, but not you.
Think of something she likes everyday, but doesn't need.
Ask her if it's ok if she were limited to this enjoyable optional activity or pleasure to only once per month?
So, she may never want sex more than once per month, but that doesn't mean that you SHOULD only want it once per month as well.
Since she is your only legitimate source in marriage, what is her solution to this serious problem?
