It would seem a convenient way to abdicate oneself from any personal responsibility about it. We all "like certain things" while being clueless as to HOW we decided we like it.
To imply it's all genetic would seem to against the laws of breeding!!

Man + Man does NOT = CHILD, nor does Woman + Woman.

Bigotry? hardly! It's logic.

Actually, Radagast, you're showing a good example of the hostility that this question frequently gets. Even scientists can have an agenda.
How do you explain the many examples of grown up gay male children that all had to deal with an incredibly overbearing mother figure? That's environmental.

Well, I don't know the biological answer to this, but I can give you an example from personal experience.

I have a friend who was straight until she turned 18. Then, all of the sudden she decided she was a lesbian. She was only attracted to girls, started acting very masculine, etc. The doctors did a test on her and found out that her hormone levels were off, and that she was producing testosterone at a really high level. They gave her estrogen shots and adjusted her medicine (she was on ADHD medicine which caused the problem), and she went back to being straight. According to the doctors, the change in hormone level caused her to have the different feelings.

So, with that information, I believe that it could be something biologically happening either with chemicals in the body or the brain.

Maybe someone will figure it out someday.

I believe homosexuals are born the way that they are. Throughout history, homosexuality has been documented in many texts. What benefit would a person have in choosing the hardships that come with homosexuality? Homosexuals make up an estimated 10% of the world's population from statistical research. This means that 10% pose no threat to impede the breeding process that makes the world go round. Granted, some people toy with sexuality and experiment but are not truly gay. I know some gay people that will tell you that it was in their nature from birth.

You seem to be going well out of your way to try and believe they were not born that way.

Since there is little motivation to BE homosexual and much AGAINT being homosexual, why would anyone wish to become one?

On the other hand, growing scientific and much personal evidence does indicate they are born that way.

Why do you feel you have such a need to believe they are not born that way? Could it be it makes you doubt the fairness of your religious beliefs?

I agree with you! I honestly think they know that homosexuality is wrong, but, if they make the statement that they were born that way , then people will think they couldn't help it. No one is born gay! You don't know what you will be like when you get older, you are raised in this world and you make the decision to be gay or not. What is there like someone who slaps you in the head at birth and says you be gay! Yeah right!

Well, it's not just LGBT people, but also science feels that we are born this way.
This is as opposed to hate-filled bigotry.

Which side are you on? It seems evident.

Straight parents raise LGBT children, and straight children, every day. LGBT parents raise LGBT children, and straight children, every day. I guess some people don't have enough science to back up their wild claims, or enough understanding about genetics, and prefer to lash out with generalizations and prejudice.

Others look to science for scientific information.

Which side are you on? It seems evident.

To me whether I was born that way (which I believe) or whether I subconsciously choose it doesnt matter. I am gay, have been gay and will be gay regardless of the reason. Why do I have to justify the reason why I am. I am happy with myself and my life.

i am so so i believe that people are BORN gay. i can remember at the age of 4 knowing something was up with me.

it's difficult to dispute the "gay at birth" idea when people are clearly "straight at birth."

it's the same thing

It is not chosen. Were you torn about which way to go, and chose to be straight? I doubt it. You just liked the opposite sex, and didn't even think twice about it.

Pisses me off when people can't understand that, and I'm straight.

Don't know every homosexual. My stepbrother was "gay" from the time I met him at the age of 3. It was dripping off of him.

But to choose gayness mean we also choose straightness since nature has shown us that other animals engage in homosexual behaviour it must be NORMAL!!!!
