An electron gun is used in the scanning electron microscope (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), electron microprobe (used to determine elemental concentrations), cathode ray tube (CRT) used in an oscilloscope and television, as an integral component of a traveling wave (microwave amplifier) tube (TWT), as an integral part of the reflex klystron and the magnetron oscillator (radar, microwave ovens), and anywhere else a focused beam of energetic electrons can fulfill a useful purpose.

High-energy electron guns are also used to generate x-rays and to directly irradiate objects (in air or vacuum) for examination, modification of physical properties, or sterilization. Electron-beam welding (in air or vacuum) is also common.

Electron guns are used when proton torpedoes
and plasma cannons already blew off deflector
shields of enemy warships.

Electron microscopes?
Electron beam welding?
Electron beam lithography?
X-ray machines
Cathode ray tubes generally (radar, very early memory devices)?

they are important in CRTs present in TVs .........
putting it bluntly, these use electrons to produce image.
the source of this is the electron gun.
(but actually, the KE of the electrons frm this gun is not enough in CRT.so they have to be supplied with huge potentials)
