I really want a doner kebab and can't find one in the states? does anyone know of any real turkish style doner shops in the united states?

well, I do like doners too. But I think you want to go to any Greek type restaurant and order a Gyro. They are similiar to what you are talking about. I lived in Los Angeles for a while and ordered a gyro but I think you can find in most big cities.

It's basically a Pita bread with meat and some sort of vegetables rolled up. It's very good. I love it.

Gyro, like the man said, resemble the "Doner". Many people come from Muslim countries to the US for freedom of religion, and so they prefer to use the Greek term rather than the Ottoman.

(Gyros tend to be cleaner than doners too. If you want dirty and dingy in the US, go to a hotdog stand)
