As most baseball fans know, Carlos Guillen's contract for the Tigers ends this year, and he may head to free agency. Also, Alex Rodriguez is debating whether or not he's wanted in New York. Is there a possibility that A-Rod may go over to the Tigers at the end of this year, and go back playing short stop, and what do you guys think will happen to Guillen?

Get real, dude!

THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!

I have inside info that Carlos Gullien WANTS to stay in Detroit and Dombrowski will do whatever it takes to keep him.

It's not likely, but it's better than the zero chance some are giving. Questions people gotta ask....Why hasn't Carlos Guillen's contract been extended yet?...if not to improve at that position through free agency. If he came to the Tigers it would be at shortstop only if Guillen was gone. Brandon Inge is easily one of the best defensive 3rd basemen around now. He makes a lot of errors because he gets to a LOT more balls than the average 3rd baseman. Non Detroiters don't seem to understand that the Tigers will be able to afford a player of Alex Rodriguez' abilities now that they have put a winner on the field. The stadium is sold out every game. The TV and radio revenue will go up next contract, etc. I think if A-Rod continues to get booed by Yankees fans he'll be happy to leave. I'm not sure who the Yankees fans think they can get to take his place. Even with an off year last year, he was still the best all around hitting 3rd baseman in the league. Let's say there's a 40 percent chance he leaves the Yankees with the Tigers being one of a half dozen teams that would be interested and able to afford him the next 4 to 6 years so an optimistic estimate of about a 6 percent chance of him coming to the Tigers.

If Guillen does file for free agency at the end of the year I think A-Rod would be a great pick up for the Tigers. As to his going back to play ss that is an interesting question. He is a better 3rd baseman than Inge. He could play either 3rd or ss for the Tigers. If he wants to get back at New York management and the fans A-Rod could play for Boston.
Guillen will probably end up in the national league.

I'd say it's very unlikely - the Tigers' total payroll this year is somewhere around $80M, and A-Rod will be demanding at least the $25M he's getting with the Yankees, if not more. I don't see them increasing payroll that much just for him.

This guys off year would get any other player MVP consideration. At the end of the year, the highest bidder wins. Yankees would rather pay him to stay than have to compete against him.

Throw away the NY papers and look at his talents.. Tigers can't afford him. He just had an off year last year is all.. Take his total stats not just last years.. NY is famous for not seeing abilities during an off year..

If A-Rod wants a ring he will stay put. If not he will end up in Chicago with his long time pal Lou Piniella.

Zero chance, Tigers can, but won't be shelling out the kind of money scott boras will be asking for.
