I only ask because a lot of people have said, "yeah, but the blu-ray is good but the games out or sorta sucky and everybody I know has had problems with it." I don't really listen too much to it, but if the issues and bugs are that bad, I don't know if I would still want to get one or wait a while longer. From what I've heard, it's going to be a LONG time before the prices start to lower.

like others have mentioned, don't expect a price drop anytime soon. Personally, I see no reason to buy the PS3 at this point in time because there are no exclusive games for it that I simply must have. I am not interested in watching blu ray movies and can surf the net using my computer. I buy game consoles for one reason, to play games. All the extra features are nice, but ultimately unimportant in my opinion.

The PS3 has the superior hardware by far, but is totally useless unless they release the software (games) to go with it. Right now, 600 dollars is simply too much money for me to invest in a game console that will sit around collecting dust.

what you have heard is true..it will be a pretty long time until the price drops..but it is totally worth it for the following reasons..

1. The powerful Blu-Ray player...the blu-ray will eventually replace all disks, and it is basically the next DVD to use...it WILL beat the HD-DVD eventually...The Blu-Ray player also plays scratched DVD's and CD's so if you have old cds or dvds, you do not need to throw them out..they will probably work on the Blu Ray even if they did not work on the old dvd or cd players..

2. Its a freakin ps3- the games right now are decent.. I would still say the best game out right now is Resistance: Fall of man, and Oblivion. Sony did not have any powerful games at launch, but more are to come for sure. It takes awhile. The demand for PS3 games are still not great enough at the moment. Especially with the very tough competition with the Wii and 360, developers do not want to mess up and throw out a crappy game to the public. It will give the PS3 a bad rep...

3. Internet and media center capabilities- The PS3 can virtually be used as a computer. You can hook up anything that you can hook up to a computer in some way. If you install Linux, you can basically plug in anything to the USB ports and it will work. Keyboards, printers, you name it. Also, you can use the large hard drive to store pictures, music, and other files that can be played on the PS3.

Eventually, all TV watchers will buy a HD TV. The PS3 is capable to reach true High Definition. 1080p. I can already smell the goodness.

I say GRAB ONE IF U CAN. I can't, no money and my parents hate the fact that i play videogames so much so they will not get one for me. :(

but believe me, i am trying to grab one soon.. saving up money like no other.

btw im 15...so im not some crazy 30 year old that plays videogames all day :)

GET ONE!

PS3 WILL RISE TO THE TOP SOME DAY!

The Worth of the PS3 is entirely relative. If you bought it, what would you do with it? Obviously you'd want to buy the premium model at $600. Once you buy that, you're going to need some video games and possibly some Blu-ray movies. So you're looking at, the very least, $800. Do you have an HDTV and a good enterainment system? If not, you're going to get just about nothing out of Blu-ray. When looking at the current generation of consoles; Wii, X-Box 360 and PS3, which has the games you want to play the most? For me, it was the Wii. Next it will be the X-Box 360. If the PS3 EVER comes out with a game that I must play, then I might get it. But chances are, that won't be for another year or so.

Yes the PS3 is worth the money. If you plan on getting one you might as well get it sooner than later, because it will be probably be 2 or more years before Sony even considers a price drop on the PS3. The Xbox 360 has been out since Nov. 2005 and the price has not dropped yet and the new model coming soon will cost more money as well. In my opinion the game system is worth the money because it is a new system with amazing new technology. With new technology comes higher prices, it just normal. You must give game developers time to create new games as well, the PS3 has only been out for about 5 months. I bought my 60GB PS3 and I love it.

I just don't get how people are making such a big deal about the PS3 costing too much money when people all over the U.S. are buying $1000+ LCD TV's when all they can do with it is watch T.V. with a better picture quality. If you have the PS3 you'll have better picture quality and more for a lower price. Buy the PS3 you won't regret it.

The only problems people have had is that they don't really understand how to use it's full potential----It should be a long before prices come down ---the system is way ahead of it's time. We have ;left our ps3 running now for five days straight- when we are not playing games or watching movies or listening to music or surfing the net on it we have it folding@home(standford find a cure project) so the processor is constantly being worked hard 24 hours a day and we have yet to have any rumored problems.---- The system runs great.

i don't have any problems with mine. call of duty any motorstorm are both great games. I haven't encountered any issues or bugs with my system. October, quite a few games are going to be released. one being the next Grand Theft Auto. Everyone is complaining that there are not many games out for the PS3, there were just as many when Xbox first came out. Give it some time. Wait till the cell processer is actually utilized. the games are going to be ridiculous!
