Cloning was originally developed to create identical animals for testing so the animal (mouse) would not be a factor in the results. It is good for that purpose. As you progress up the system to humans, you encounter serious moral and legal issues that need thorough discussion before proceeding.

You have to remember that cloning does not necessarily refer to an entire organism. If only some genes can be cloned, only certain traits will be observed. I have to say that I would like to see more advances in this area because my cousin was born without an arm just below her elbow and it would be nice if they could clone one for her someday.

it could help repopulate endangered species. anything has the potential for good or bad uses. we just have to be careful who does what with this technology.
