I don't understand why places cannot seem to figure out that people are incompetent on the job interview. I called the pharmacy and the lady could not understand what I said. This is unacceptable. I don't care if McDonalds gives me a double cheeseburger instead of a big and tasty, I do care if I get blood pressure medicine in place of birth control. Does anyone else find this unacceptable?

I would not, when it affects whether someone lives or not... I want competent people else I will have many lawsuits on my hands which will cost more than it does to pay a competent employee.

I speak Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese. They shouldn't be punishing me.

I find it very unacceptable. When it comes to jobs like McDonald's, they're going to hire whoever comes along and wants to work. My guess is that most people (english speaking) aren't willing to settle for a job that pays $5 something per hour, whereas someone who's just off the boat or has a large family to support WILL take a job that pays so little.

What drives me nuts is that so many companies outsource their call center calls to India. In my case, it's the cable/internet company, a credit card company, the power company, and my car insurance company. I'm calling for tech support because my modem isn't working and I can BARELY understand what they're telling me to do. Or when I call to change my insurance coverage on my cars, I just have to assume that they understand me and make the changes because I d@mn sure don't understand a thing they say...

Hey this is America and everybody trying to spend the least amount of money as possible. That's why they hire someone like that. Would you rather pay and American with a degree 80k a year or pay some foreigner that you can teach do the same from 30k. You would do the exactly what all the other business so----SAVE MONEY.

i think this is a way of punishing English speaking societies, seeing that non of the English speaking people bother learning other languages wot so ever, even when they go abroad where no one speaks English. they do not say "OH i feel bad i cant speak their language and i cant understand them" but they say " why cant no one speak English round here, they dont understand a word i am saying!"

It's harder than you think to find competent people to work in certain fields.
