I don't know whether it's acceptable or not. But it's no one's business. I have gone to the cinema alone before. I went to watch the Santa Clause 3 for goodness sake. I don't think it should matter to people whether you go alone or not. If you want some alone time and you choose to spend it alone at the cinema then you can do that. It's no one else's business. Have fun at the movies with or without someone. Hope I helped.

Yes, women need to have more confidence going places on their own. None of my freinds would dream of going to the cinema or walking into a bar on their own, im happy to do it all the time..if i want to do something then i'll do it im not gonna sit around and wait for someone to hold my hand. Besides least you wont be disturbed by someone talking through the film!

Yes, I find the afternoon an excellent time to visit the cinema on my own, but get funny looks in the evening!

Of course it is!

I go all the time when there is a movie that I want to watch that I know none of my friends will want to see too. I have missed too many good movies just because my friends pooh-pood them, more than movies that I have seem with them and all of us found barfable.

Its a question of choice and taste.

Did you know that in the USA more and more people are going out to restaurants alone? That restaurants are no longer treating single diners as second rate citizens? It has to do with the growing need of some people to just be with themselves without having to hold a conversation, wanting to enjoy a nice meal and not have to clean up after it, wanting to pamper themselves. Its great for us singles that are between relationships. Maybe we'll be able to pull the ol' "Waiter, please send this bottle of Chateau Such-et-Such 199z to the lady on that table" from the movies again :D

I think it isn't acceptable to go to the cinema with someone who is stupid, if it is your case you'd better go to the cinema on your own. It's better to be alone than with a bad company.

Socially acceptable? I guess, but people will probably think you have no friends etc. Essentially though there's nothing wrong with going alone. I've actually missed out on decent films before because I had no one to go with and after I wished I had.

Yes. During the day, there are loads of people who go to the cinema themselves, however, go yourself on a Friday night or saturday night and the staff will point and snigger!

I never would, but some of my friends do. I don't thinkthere's anything wrong with it really. I'd just feel a bit self-conscious going on my own. Also, if I find something funny, I want to enjoy the laugh with someone.
