there would be no need to posess one as a means of self defense, there would be no need for police to have them or any need for there use in wars. think of it this way if there was a particular food that only led to death or serious illness would we still manufacture that product. weapons aren't tools that have multiple purposes there designed for one thing. and before someone goes on about constituional rights, this was put in place to stop the the english from coming in to your home and harming you, but again if there were no weapons would this still matter. I know this will never happen but i was wondering.

A hundred odd years ago, when people tried to view what the 21st century might look like, I am sure many predicted a civilized world without weapons. We are, unfortunately, a long way from that.

And how exactly are you going to take mine from me? Someone with weapons will have to take them. How are you going to prevent me from making more? Someone with weapons will have to stop me. A kitchen knife kills thousands each year. What about hammers or bats? Man invented and perfected murder and warfare long before he invented gunpowder.

It was put in place to stop anyone from coming in to your place and harming you.

And what about the fact that I can harm you without a weapon?

What can an unarmed woman do to prevent a rape?

What can an armed woman do?

only if all sides could be trusted. Russia signed a treaty that said they would not continue research on biological weapons but they continued their work on it. So, no, you can't get rid of them. this way it deters the other side.

there was a small country in south america (I cant remember which one of the top of my head) that banned all guns from their country. being small this was quite possible. however people started robbing and stealing with machettes. so what now do they ban large knives, then what about candle sticks? get the drift

here is the problem if all people who wanted to be peaceful got rid of their weapons - those who are war like - would easilly take over- look at africa for instance.

That would be great but just try to get one of those terrorists to give up his bombs and make peace. YOU CAN'T, that's why we have to keep our bombs and keep the terrorist element in check. Without our bombs, we become targets for the terrorists.
