As a criminology major I had learned about in depth, experienced, or been a witness to the darker side of human nature. As a result, I vowed never to have children because I didn't want them growing up in such a violent world. I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to protect them from something terrible happening. Even writing this now is making my heart race and my mind wrought with worry and fear....especially since I have a child now. There have been times that I have actually slept on the floor in my child's bedroom so that I will be there to protect him. I don't do this as often as when he was a baby but my anxiety over something terrible happening is still with me....everyday. While my biggest fear of not being able to protect my child is intense and sometimes debilitating, I have learned to live with the brighter side of human nature. I can't dwell on something bad that might (or might not) happen, but instead I focus on all the good around me and my child....until I hear something that goes bump in the night.

Mine is claustrophobia too, but more like being confined to a small space and not being able to escape. One thing that scares me is SCUBA diving, (and I would really like to try it cause I like extreme adventures and facing my fears) but being confined to the gear and breathing equip is very intimidating to me. I know accomplished divers who have ascended too fast and got the bends. But my claustrophobia creeps up on me when I don't expect it. 99 out of a 100 times of getting on an elevator (or some small space of the like) I have 0 anxiety or even think about it, but that 1 time out of 100 the doors will shut, my heart will race, sweat, and sometimes I start to have a panic attack. But my mind knows better than my fear and I over come it.
Yeah, and like the guy above who said being alone which I thnk can go hand in hand with claustrophobia; the feeing of helplessness.

My biggest fear is not being loved. So probably just being alone and not having anyone to turn to. The world can be a pretty lonely place for some people.
