I do. Sing or you don't play - simple!!

Watch other country's players - they do! I'm not saying they should go and do a solo number but it would show us they have a little bit of passion and pride - something that has been lacking of late.

Footballers are over-paid and don't actually give a **** about the game or queen and country. They should sing even if it's just to show the other teams that they care.

So what are you saying, if a Footballer does not sing the National Anthem, they have no passion for the game, you obviously have never watched Gary Neville play for England, because if you had you would have seen, he never sings the National Anthem, but he definitely plays every game with passion. I am just using Gary as an example, And I am not saying Gary is the only one who does not sing.

I wish they would sing it. The England Rugby team and many other national football teams sing their anthem with pride and passion. They are after all representing their country. I always feel the need to sing... and do it with pride when I here our national anthem. I certainly think managers should encourage singing....As for not knowing the words of your own country's national anthem.... well shame on you!!!
I'm only 39, but I can remember the national anthem being played at the cinema and everyone standing up for it!!
I'm English and very proud of it.

The debate is about what anthem to sing before the start of a game. Officially, the National Anthem is not really very much to do with England. Some England fans want "Land of Hope and Glory". There may also be other suggestions. What England needs to do is decide on an anthem which they all approve of and learn the lines and sing it out loud.

There is no problem for the Welsh who with their 40,000+ strong army of fans will sing "Land of My Fathers" at the beginning of any sporting event, especially the Rugby at which they hope to beat England and anyone else.

Also, why do we sing the national anthem of the UK (God save the Queen) Whereas Wales, Scotland and Ireland all sing their own songs. I think our anthem should be 'Land of Hope and Glory'.

Oh and in response to your question, most sing, but Rooney always stands there like a grumpy old git. lol.

I agree. Terry was saying how he and all the players felt the honour of playing for their country, they should act like it!

Sing or you don't play is a bit harsh though, I would just give them a stern talking to at half-time, but then, from McClaren, that probably means no chocolate chip cookies for 5 minutes.

i know what you mean, however don`t you think the national anthem is a bit........dull, not much um-ff in it to get the players going. Just wish it could be remixed by a good DJ then maybe it would get the players going
