Check this site out:
http://www.interactivemaps.org/visited_countries/
You can check all the countries you have visited, choose which color they will show up as for visited countries and non-visited countries, choose the size and so on. It seems pretty neat. You can add it to your webpage and it will be interactive. Once you're finished though, you can just hit the 'PrintScrn' button on your keyboard and paste the image into your picture editing software; then save the picture, find it, and set it as your desktop background.
If you'd like to see it as an interactive map on a webpage and you dont have your own site, just open up your desktop notepad or such, and copy the html coding the main site gave you for your map, paste it in to your notepad and click 'Save As' and save it as an html document to your desktop. Ex: worldmap.html, map.html, mymap.html, etc.
You can also add descriptions and links to the interactive map. Just follow the simple directions on the main site.
Good luck. :)

Find a world map you like first. Save it under My Documents/Pictures. Open your photo workshop and open the map file. Use the workshop to mark the countries you have been too.
Then right click on your desktop. Click Properties. Click the Desktop Tab. Then click browse. Find your map, you may have to customize the size.
*Not sure if it's going to work, but worth a shot...
