I am planning a trip to Fort Myers Beach FL in June. I am staying at the Gull Wing Resort.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for tourists? What are some good places to visit? I don't mind traveling up to 1.5 hours, I am getting a rental car. THANKS!

I am so jealous!! My family has vacationed in the Fort Myers area for 15 years...they are actually there right now. I have school so I was left out this year! :( You MUST go to Sanibel Island. It is beautiful. It is right next to Fort Myers Beach. There is a toll road to cross before going over the bridge, but it is worth it. (esp if you love wildlife) There is so much to do there I couldn't write it all here, but some ideas would be to go canoeing or hike in the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge. The beaches on Sanibel are much quieter than on Ft. Myers too. When you get onto Sanibel stop in the visitor's bureau and see everything they have to offer! It is definately worth your time!

My family lives in Bonita Springs, right by there. There are lots of fun things to do. My favorite is all the shops. Last time I went, I got a shark in a bottle. Fun stuff. It is really fun though.

Spend sometime on Sanibel Island. Its world famous for picking up sea shells.

The Edison estate is a fascinating place and worth the little drive.
