Haven't we been hearing the same rigamarole for almost two years now since Cheney said "the terrorists are in their last throes?"

It seems like every time Bush or anyone from his cabinet starts on about Iraq they mention how we are "making progress" and "turning corners" there.

We've turned a corner all right. Right into a back alley.

I wonder how many more dead people it will take before he will admit his mistake, I don't see it as being better because Iraqi's are still dying in droves. U.S. service people are still being killed and at an alarming rate. How is this better? I wonder if McCain hasn't sold out to the right wing in order to get elected.

How do you know the situation is not improving? Oh yea, you get your impression of how things are going by watching and reading the news instead of actually taking with people who are there/ have been there. My father works for a National news outlet so I know a little something about how the process works. News outlets are business and there main concern is generating a profit just as it should be for any business. People are more interest in hearing how "bad" things are than how "good" things are. When was the last time so saw any news show start its show with a feel good story? They always start with the worst things that happened that day. Any feel good reports are buried deep in the show. The same goes for print media. when was the last ime you saw a feel good story as the headline for the day?

It doesnt matter what politician you're discussing, when it comes to Iraq, they're all full of sh*t, especially because of the fact that there is no situation in Iraq. Lets go ahead and look at the facts.

*We've never had a dibachle like this in the Middle East before. Back in the day, Ronald Reagan, George Bush I and Bill Clinton all had their little back door deals to keep oil prices low. On the other hand, Dubya and his crew can't control the f*ckers. The truth is that there is no situation. All we're doing is working to install a government in Iraq that will play ball with The U.S. They want a government over there that will adjust oil prices according to the whims of Dubya and his boys, or whomever the next president turns out to be. Its all a scam. I could live with it, if they'd just come out say "O.K., we're going to Iraq for oil, mmmK?". I could live with it. In any event, it doesnt matter, they're going to continue to lie to us because they think we believe it, whatever.

Because he is basically an honest guy, although I don't think I will vote for him, and he wants the American people to know the truth. It is almost impossible to know it unless you get it from a soldier ( my brother is in Iraq) or you listen to some news source other than CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS or MSNBC. I do not know why they are willing to do or say anything to tear down the President (not that he has been right all the time), but this is just like treason to me. We put in a new strategy like the Democrats wanted, but they just want us to loose the fight to win back power. Look at the funding bill for the troops that they just loaded up with millions in pork just to buy some votes for it. It scares me to think people in office would play with our soldiers lives the way they are.

As I watched Bush’s most recent press conference, I remember being struck by his unmitigated gall in making the assertion that things are improving in Iraq and that he is optimistic about the situation there. He even managed to characterize the circling of Baghdad by 40,000 Iraqi troops as a sign of how well things are going, as opposed to a sign of frightening instability and drastically deteriorating security there. Bush must have really meant it when he said he doesn’t read newspapers.

When was the last time you visited Iraq? How can you be SURE there's been no progress? And what makes you think things can change overnight? Maybe you should stop listening to everything the media shoves down your throat and use some common sense. I get it, you don't think we fought this war fast enough, but it's YOUR people who are withholding funding that's needed to get the job done faster. You can't have it both ways. You've tried to position yourselves so that the republicans are wrong no matter what they do & that's really crappy. You shouldn't oppose something just because someone you don't like supports it. That's dumb logic.

Reporter Michael Ware said if an American walked around Baghdad they would be killed. He said Mc Cain was way off.
Mc Cain blundered! He should find a nice cool spot in the shade and retire.

Yeah, I know what you mean about all of they lying. He's probably referring to the 25 percent decline in suicide bombing and attacks in general. A group of Iraqi attackers killed a muslim man and refused to let his family bury him for four days ( I assume that they kept his body for the duration). This enraged some prominent clerics, and so they have joined forces with the US troops to combat these attacking groups. So the situation has recently improved, though not through any action on the part of Mr. McCain or either the congress or the president.

How do you know it's not working? How does anyone know it's not working? The media only tells one side....the negative side. The media is the heart of the bleeding heart liberals. I know 5 people over there right now, they say it's not as bad as the media makes it out to be. You cannot always believe what the media tells us. That is their job to paint the bleakest picture they can.
