It is very normal to feel anxious at this point in your pregnancy. Your hormones are all out of whack and you are about to have the most amazing experience of your life. Child birth is a natural process and with today's medical knowledge, doctors are better prepared when baby comes. If your doctor was concerned about your size, he would've brought it up a long time ago. Babies are like cats in that they can squeeze through a very small area and pop back to size! Bad comparison, but true! You will be fine. Spend this time relaxing and pampering yourself. After baby comes, so does the chaos! Life will never be the same. Good Luck :)

37 weeks with third here, and even I am still a bit on edge of nerves about birth.
Thing is, you really do have to remember that for decades, centuries, and the begining of time women have been giving birth. It's nature. It's how it's done. As if that doesn't even come close to reassuring you , trust me when I say, that baby will come out no matter what you think "can't" happen. Too small, big baby. Not a problem. Honest.
Sure, pain is a given, no questioning that, there's always relief for it, put your mind at ease if you can. The nurses, the doctors are there to help you feel the most comfortable during this time. You can feel all nervous and worried and scared up to the point where it comes down to doing it, and believe it or not, you aren't thinking about pain at this point. So over come with pushing, with breathing and than that first cry you hear, everything else fades away.
I think the worse is the weeks before delivery, you sit, you wait, your wondering when it'll happen, and plenty of time to focus on the what, and how much will this hurt that the big picture is all messed up.It's alright to be a little scared about it, anxious. I'm on my third and I'm so miserable right now, I just want it over with. First two went with no problem, I am petiete I did worry a lot about how something so big can come out from something so small and yet I didn't even think that it actaully take 9 months for all those muscles, all of those little areas to get ready just for this big day. Your body is made for this, and everything is ready for that day to come.
If you truely do have a big baby, unless your doctor has mentioned the size and has concerns I wouldn't put much more thought into it, just think healthy, crying, strong lungs and wait for that cry. She will fit through, the baby's head is actaully still very soft at this point, just for the reason of passing down through, your bones as strong as they are, are in just the place they should be, along with your muscles, stretched, soft, and believe it or not strong enough to flex just for this. So you really are built for labor.
We're all with you, been there, going through and still weeks behind at this point. But we're all with you. :-)
Good luck, be strong, chin up. You can do it.

First of all congrats!!! Second what you are feeling is normal anxiety when it comes to the end of your pregnancy, especially if it is your first.
Remember that you will be fine, you will be placed in very experienced hands and nothing will happen to you. Its hard to remember but your body is designed for a baby to come out of it. (Its the wonderous mechanics of nature) Even though it really will feel like you are splitting apart at times, your not the uterus is the strongest muscle in the human body and you will be able to do it! Your baby is not to big to fit, so don't worry, if your doctors thought that her size would be an issue, then they would have induced you earlier or scheduled a c-section. You'll be fine, just remember to have those that love you around you when its time and you will be fine. You will be amazed at what your body can do. Good luck to you:)

I know its scary, but you will do fine. If you think that she won't fit or you will break bones, try researching it and read up on it. The more you know, the more reassured you will be giving birth. Also don't be scared to talk to our doctor about your fears. He or she may have some resources that will help explain how your body acts and what happens during the birthing process. Also signing up for some classes at a hospital may help. They are very informative.

You will be fine!
Keep in mind that your pelvis is made up of bones as well as lots of cartilage in between, and that cartilage is designed to stretcccchhhhh during delivery of your baby. And plus, your baby's head has soft spots between the bones of its head that allow the baby's head to collapse a bit to fit through the birth canal. Gradually as the baby gets older these soft spots fill in.
Also, female bodies don' t tend to grow babies that are too big to fit through the birth canal, unless something is seriously wrong, like gestational diabetes. If your ancestors tended to grow babies that were too big to fit, your ancestors would have died out long before you ever came along.
Finally, remember that relaxation is key to your cervix dialating when you go into labor, so you need to focus right now on learning some relaxation techniques. You need to conquer this fear!

Babies have really soft bones, even their skulls are soft just for passing through the birth canal. You see, their skeletons havent begun to fuse. So they can twist and contort into positions you couldnt imagine. And she will fit hunny. It depends on how your built. You can help her through it by walking lots during labour, taking advantage of the birthing ball, and squatting while pushing. All of these movements help open your pelvis up and help baby though.
Its okay mommy. I was actually more worried about the pain when i was where your at. I was thinking "my god how am i going to handle this?" But you know what? I did it, without any drugs. Our bodies are made for this. TRUST YOUR BODY!!!
Good Luck and i hope you have a short and easy labour.

I think most moms would agree that, at about 2 seconds after your baby is born, you forget all about the pain you just experienced.
Otherwise there would be a lot of "only children" out there!
Good Luck

I have an 18 month old and a 4 month old. I was scared to death when I went to have my first daughter. It wasn't painful at all. If you have an epideral the only thing you should feel is a little bit of pressure.

You can do this! That's all you have to remember. Even with a lot of pain, you need to remember that you can do this, your body was meant to do this, and that the pain will not last forever, it will stop! In the rare case that you cannot deliver the baby vaginally, you will have a c-section. Not a bad thing, just remember you have to do what is best for your baby. You will do great, I promise! We're all rooting for you!
