It's okay to be nervous, we pretty much all feel that way, but don't be scared. Your gyno is a professional and you will feel so much better after you go. Be brave about it and then go do something nice for yourself.

I had a similar problem. I got mine when I was like 14 though, now I', also 20. It was always irregular, and then I went on birth control, and it was fine. Then I stopped the birth control after 2 years, and then I haven't had a period in about 2 years. I was so nervous when I went to the doctor. But everything was fine. As it turns out I have no problems at all. The doctor said I have sort of low estrogen, but not too low. But he said I would have no problem getting pregnant in the furure, I just need to go on estrogen and this other medication. He also said if anything, I'm lucky, cause I don't get my period, but I'm still healthy, I just don't have to deal with all the monthly crap! haha... But he'll just put you on this stuff, it was some kind of harmone, and It'll make you get your period. It's nothing, don't freak yourself out over it. I did, and now I laugh at it. I'm sure it's just a similar problem.

well if you are not sexually active then your hormones probably are not regulated, if you are scared of going to the gynecologist don't worry none of us like to go, if you are really young you can have your mom go in with you, it is not a very flattering position to be in but most doctors let you get dressed before they start talking, he may put you on birth control to regulate your periods. girls are starting their periods too young these days, they say it is because of the hormones in the foods but I am getting worried I have a 7 year old and the though of her starting so young scares me I guess I better start explaining these thing to her. good luck at the doctors, just relax it will be over before you know it and remember the doctor is a professional. If I told you not to be nervous I would be a hypocrite because I am 46 and still get nervous.

have you had alot of stress in your life around the time of your irregularity? all through highschool I was irregualr because of the stress of running all over for my extra curriculars. Irregularity could also be caused by a small cyst, this happens in alot of women and it's nothing to worry about. Don't worry nomatter what's causing it you'll be fine, your dr will most likely put you on birth control and then whatever is causing your missed periods won't matter anymore. If it's a cyst the pill can help get rid of it as well as make pms alot easier on you.

No worries. What the doctor will most likely do is give you birth control pills to regulate your period. I have a 25 yr old friend whom has only gotten her period once in her life. She went to the drs recently and he put her on Ortho. She was simply concerned that with her lack of menstrual cycle, she'd have problems conceiving, which the dr confimed. Now she gets her period every 28 days. Good luck!

Its hard to tell someone not to be nervous. Its a scary thing. So, keep in mind that your doctor only wants to help you. S/he may want to put you on the pill to regulate your cycle-that happens to many many women. After your appointment if your doctor tells you anything, do research on it and ask questions. Then go back and have a follow up appt with her/him.

Don't be nervous. I didn't go to the gyno till I was about 20 and I was scared to death but it isn't that bad. Tell them it is your first visit and they will tell you exactly what they are going to do.

Irregular periods can be a sign of hormonal imbalance- don't be embarrased and talk to your doctor- he/she deals with stuff like that all the time.

It could be lots of things. I haven't had my period in 10 months(I wasn't pregnant). My doc tested me and she said there was nothing wrong.. it could just be stress. She put me on the pill to make my period regular. And well..to actually give me one.
