Scientists now believe that the moon is older than the earth and that our planet once existed w/o a moon, they now also believe that the moon is hollow and there are a number of other anomalies like the fact that the moon appears to be the same size as the sun (and yes i know why that is so don't explain it and then call me stupid for not explaining it) which nothing else in our solar system does. there is no evidence that the moon came from the earth as once believed

they say it is hollow b/c the force it exerts on bodies when it passes ins't consistent w/ what a solid body would produce, much the same way they know jupiter is gaseous planet. once again you close minded people have missed the point. do some research first and then respond

and there are many other sites that claim the same thing, of course this is always subject to conjecture b/c no one alive today was around when this all happened but it's possible and even NASA has acknowledged this.

Scientists don't believe any of those things, except that Earth existed, as a somewhat larger planet, without a moon until some protoplanet collided with Earth after the Earth had stratified into rock on the outside and metal at the core, melting and knocking off much of the rocky outer layer, some of which coalesced into the moon. The theory explains why Earth has a metal core and the moon doesn't.

For an object the size of the Moon to be hollow would require some major loopholes to the law of gravity.

The idea that the Moon came from the Earth as a result of another object the size of Mars hitting Earth in the distant past is the newest theory on the origin of the Moon. There is no scientific evidence that the Moon is hollow. Where did you get that idea? Moon quakes as measured by instruments left on the Moon by Apollo astronauts has given us a pretty good idea of what the interior of the Moon is made of, and it isn't hollow.

There ARE no facts -- only theories. None of them can be absolutely proven as of now.

"Thus, the giant impact hypothesis continues to be the leading hypothesis on how the moon formed. Is it right? Can it be disproven by more careful research? Only time will tell, but so far it has stood up to 25 years of scrutiny. "

"The Hollow moon theory is a debunked theory that suggests that the moon is a large hollow sphere. Little published evidence of the theory's validity exists, and calculations regarding the Moon's size and the effect of its gravity mean that it is impossible for it to be hollow."

If the moon is older than the Earth, then how can our planet have existed without it? (What are you jibbering pn about?) In actuality, the moon was greated shortly after the dissappearence of the dinosaurs. The impact of the comet tore away enough of the earths surface to allow for forming of the moon, based on particle distribution and rotation of the Earth. Note that the earth is not spheracle, yet it is oblong (caused by a massive impact?) This massive impact also allowed for Pangea to break aoart and forming the continents as we know them today. Cheers!

Because you are asking questions on an unmoderated site where people are rewarded for asking questions and responding to questions, even if they have no knowledge of the subject matter.

So, where did you hear about the moon being hollow? That's a new one on me . . . got a reference for that?

Where are you getting your facts from? Everything that you said seems contrary to established scientific consensus.

You must have been reading science fiction, or some very, very old articles about the Moon.

Ya know, reading your questions makes me wonder?

Why do some PEOPLE who ask quesions not that their facts straight about the moon?

Which scientist have the rather unusual belifs that you say they do? I have never heard of them, but I guess that is my fault for only reading science booke instead of www.wildthories.com or some such place.

Well according to this research they have proven how the moon could have been created. I say could have because it's one of many possible ways. At least they can back it up though.

I'd like to know which issue of the National Enquirer you are getting your information from...I seem to have missed it, and need to track down a copy immediately.
