It should be taken as soon as possible.
The morning after pill isn't 100% effective.
It is 95% effective within 24 hours after unprotected sex, 85% effective within 25-48 hours, and lower after 48+ hours.
If you have left it too late for the emergency contraceptive pill then you can still have an IUD, also known as a Coil, fitted up to five days after unprotected sex, to prevent pregnancy occurring.
The IUD works by stopping an egg from being fertilised or implanted in your womb and can be left in as a form of regular contraception or removed after a normal period. It is 98%-99% effective.

Don't wait at all! And next time be more careful! Rely on something more than a pill used after the fact..

If you have the pill, it came with instructions. The instructions will tell you it's for women, by the way. If you take it, it won't do anyone any good. But you don't WAIT. You take it as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours.

The pill should of come with instrutions, usually like 72 hours after a RAPE..... I sure hope this isnt your method of birth control if it is youre a sick person that needs counseling, and a good sex education class. If you were raped you still need both.

The MAP must be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex in order to be most effective in preventing pregnancy.

you dont wait. the sooner you take it the more effective it will be to prevent an unplanned pregnancy. you have to take it within the first 72 hours. the longer you wait the less efffective it will be.
