Jeff Garcia is like many journeyman QBs in this league (can anyone say Brad Johnson). They step in when all hope is lost and are able to win, not because of some hidden talen but because defensive coordinators have not game planned for them.

With a little success they are usually able to ride an emotional high that can last for part of a season. It usually fails the next year when the they try to repeat their success and don't know how to manage a team from the leader's role.

It was smart to let Garcia go. McNabb needs a confidence vote because the last couple of seasons have been rough. Everyone needs to get behind him so that he does not feel the weight of the team is on his shoulders.

What cured the Eagles problems last year is what wins football games in most cases. They improved their run defense and they ran a more balanced offense. Remember the famous 4th and 26 play that McNabb hooked up with umm...Freddie "Andy Reid loved me before I started speaking my Mind" Mitchell, they were in that situation because they failed to keep the defense on their toes by mixing up the play calling. The Packers were so comfortable in knowing what Reid was going to do that they called the same blitz like 3 times in a row. They backed off on 4th down and McNabb got lucky. Now when McNabb gets hurt they know that they can't throw deep as much because Garcia will get clobbered too often so they shorten the routes and run the ball more often. The defense plays better because the offense in on the field longer!!!! The Eagles would score 35 points and not wear down a defense because they were scoring so quickly. In effect they were wearing down their own defense. At the end of the season they were using that huge line of theirs and wearing down the oppositions defense.

McNabb is a better QB then Garcia but it seems that the other players liked Garcia better. As far as the NFL being fixed...get real ! That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! There is too much money involved for any team to purposely lose.

Easy answer, who did the Eagles let go? As soon as Reid stop calling the plays it was hard to beat them. Imagine what it will be like with McNabb in the system again.

What saved the Eagles' season last year was when Andy Reid gave up the play-calling to one of his coordinators instead. Apparently, their opponents must have had Reid pretty well figured out...so THAT change almost instantly cured many of their problems mid-season and AFTER Garcia stepped in.

im a huge eagles fan and i hav to say that i appreciate wut garcia did for us but mcnabb is still way better. i agree that the defence picked up their game which contributed to more wins, not just garcia. however, garcia ran the ball more and stepped outside of the pocket. he wasnt afraid to take a hit. but theres no competition-- mcnabb is the best

GO EAGLES!!

Clearly Mcnabb is the superior Qb....Garcia is old and has no arm strength

As far as who the better QB is, it's McNabb. Period. But I do agree with you: a lot of their later-season success had to do with the defensive shuffling.

Garcia's winning streak was awesome, and he deserved an extension in my opinion, especially now that they've got Kelly Holcombe (WTF???), but I guess when you play like a starter, you get starter money.

McNabb is a better quarterback than Jeff Garcia. Hell, Josh McCown is a better quarterback than Jeff Garcia. Garcia is only successful in one system and only one system. It will be fun to watch him either riding the bench or running TB into the ground next season.

The only way they can win is if Jeff Gracia gives them his magical powers and McNabb retires.
