On March 27th, the Padres had 25 hits, and a final score of 24-7 over the Rangers. Given that it was a spring training game, thats impressive none the less. Maddox was more than adequate, and the bats were at work. Is this a sign of things to come, or a fluke?

a pretty good chance playing in the worst division in baseball, the addition of maddox and what he can give the pitching staff with already veteran david wells, and brians little brother marcus brings a better hitter and a better defensive player needed at that position, it will be a battle between them and the dodgers.

The Padres main concern is hitting. They should have saved some of those 25 hits for the regular season.

I think the Padres will win the NL Central. Jake Peavy is my pick for the NL Cy Young. With Young, Maddux, Wells, and Hensley following him and a solid bulpen I think they have the best pitching staff in the NL.

I'm anxious to see how Kouzmanoff does. He is going to play a key part in that offense.

there chances are very good, the NL west is going to be pretty good. prob going to come down to the final few weeks of the season, March 27th is spring training, nice to see the bats at work. but i would not expect the padres to have too many 25 hit games in the reg season

this is a fluke of the spring. dont get me wrong, the pads have just as good a chance of winning the wild wild west as any other team in the division. the problem with this team is there is no nucleus. they have some talent, young players and a few gritty vets, but they lack the fire and intensity it will require to win a division. look for clutch players to come through and a down to late September push, but this team will finish 2nd in the west to LA. top to bottom LA just has people in the right spots and it will come down to 2 deciding factors for both teams to win:
1)who stays healthy
2)who gets that last piece of the puzzle come September

Their chances right now are the same as everyone else, and better than this time last year. I think they`re probably better than San Bonds. L.A. is expected to win division, but if they falter, Padres will battle D-Backs for 1st.

Zero. The Dodgers will win that division hands down and the NL Wild Card will more than likely come out of the NL east or central.

Nonexistant, they do not have either the pitching or hitting to make the playoffs this year.
