The title of the song is 'The Banana Boat Song' ... it was 'first sung' by Harry Belafonte in the 1950s, but is actually a song from the Caribbean islands. I'm guessing you 'remember it' from the movie 'Beetlejuice' ... and yes, I do know ALL of the words. Sorry, I'm 'old' (56 years) and I love that song.

Banana Boat Song (Day-O)
Lyrics: Traditional [Darling/Carey/Arkin]
Music: Traditional [Darling/Carey/Arkin]
Played twice by the Grateful Dead in 1987, both times with the Neville Brothers as guests on stage.
Day-o, Day-o
Daylight come and we want go home
Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o
Daylight come, and we want go . . .
Work all night on a drink of rum
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Stack banana til the morning come
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Come Mister Tally Man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Come Mister Tally Man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)
6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot bunch
(Daylight come and we want go home)
6 foot, 7 foot 8 foot bunch
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Day, is a day-o
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o
(Daylight come and we want go home)
A beautiful bunch of ripe banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Hide the deadly black tarantula
(Daylight come and we want go home)
It's 6 foot, 7 foot, 8 foot bunch
(Daylight come and we want go home)
6 foot, 7 foot 8 foot bunch
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Day, is a day-o
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Come Mister Tally Man, Tally me banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Come Mister Tally Man, tally me banana
(Daylight come and we want go home)
Day-o, Day-o
Daylight come and we want go home
Day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day, is a day-o
(Daylight come and we want go home)
