I don't feel like retyping it, so I'll just say Micheal C is right. If you don't just want to wear the clothing of the opposite sex, but actually identify as that sex and want to live that way for the rest of your life, then you're a transsexual. (If you are also attracted to what is now the same sex then that makes you a straight transsexual btw.) If you just like to crossdress and are attracted to the same sex, then you're a gay crossdresser.

In modern times the gender line is getting kinda blurry. I myself exhibit all the telltale signs of being a transgender, what with the whole wanting to be a girl every second since birth thing, but I pretty much just live as an androgynous openly gay guy who crossdresses and acts girly a lot. I live in Texas and so far nobody questions me, the only thing that really seperates an extremely nelly gay guy and a TS is whether or not you want to have different sexual organs and be formally recognized as the opposite gender. The stereotype of gays being "basically women", while offensive to a lot of us, actually works in the favor of those of us who act that way because people expect it and aren't put off by it.

One is happy with the body they've got, the other isn't or likes to dress up in clothes of the opposite gender.

The gay one likes people of the same sex

The Tranny needn't

Don't trannies have sex changes? If so, I imagine they would remember such an experience and know that they were a transexual. Gay people just like people of the same sex.
