In one scene from "Defending Your Life," Albert Brooks' character is talking with his wife. He is trying to practice asking for a raise--haggling and all that. Then they cut to the scene where he is actually asking his boss for more money. He settles for much less than he originally wanted because he was afraid.
Also in that movie, he decides to stay out of the stock market despite one of his friends telling him that this watch company is going to hit it big. The stocks could have made him rich, but he was again too afraid to invest.
