If it ever crashes/freezes (which does occasionally happen), hold the the button in the centre, and then (while still holding the centre button) hold the "menu" button to soft reset it.
Enjoy your iPod dude :)

I bought exactly the same ipod a few months ago - it's great. Word of warning - don't bother with the in-car i-trip (if you were thinking of it) - it's hard to find a spare radio station and they drain your ipod battery really quickly.
The best thing I did buy was a set of speakers, the sound is great and it's really convenient never having to change the music when you've got people round. I got a set of Altec Lansing speakers from the Apple store (cost around £80).

Yes, Download iDump and put it in your iPod (set it up as a hard drive from within iTunes first). Then you can "backup" your music library to any computer at any time or "borrow" music from friends collections without using iTunes!
See link below and enjoy!

on your computer, download the latest version of itunes (itunes.com). iTunes will allow you to purchase music online and copy music from your CDs to your computer. Then plug your iPod into your computer using the included UDB cable and sync your music to your iPod.
