I've been living in Japan for more than 20 years. I teach junior/senior high, but a couple of my friends are carpenters. They put up log houses. There seems to be quite a market for them these days, especially in the mountain areas (2nd homes, etc). The pay is decent.
The schools are a mixed bag - personally I think the elementary schools are OK, but in junior high the emphasis is on taking tests to get into high school, where the emphasis is taking tests to get into college, where the emphasis is on partying. There are very good international schools here, but they are very expensive. The Catholic schools also have a good rep; don't know much about their price structure...
Take a look at this 360 blog for info about private schools in Japan:

Wikipedia has an interesting article about secondary ed in Japan at:

Do some google searches for places that interest you. There's lots and lots of info out there. Good luck!

There are many places in Europe. The plave i would suggest isn't there though, it is Canada. Sure there are similarities, but there are also differences. I live in Canada, and I do know it is a great place to live.

Canada is always an option, but the culture is very similar. you'll find out, the US economy is the worlds strongest.
