Is Heptane soluble in water, acetone, and ethanol?

Is Hexene soluble in water, acetone, and ethanol?

Is toluene soluble in water, acetone and ethanol?

I did these experiments and found that all three were insoluble in water, and all three were soluble in acetone and ethanol, but I was told those answers were wrong! If anyone knows, please let me know too. Thanks

AND... are any of these considered "dirty fuels"? which ones?

In acetone and ethanol .. yes....but not soluble in water.

Toluene is Methyl Benzene and, as such is a very 'dirty' fuel in as much that Benzene is a carcinogen.
All however, when burned, produce CO2 with a possibility of CO in insufficient oxygen .. they too can be classed as 'dirty'.

Dear Lady,

I am NICE TO SEE your photo!
:-p

Water, Ethanol, Acetone are THREE POLAR SOLVENTs since they result Polar Compounds, e.g. Water is MORE POLAR THAN Ethanol which in turn results MORE POLAR THAN Acetone.
On the other hand, Heptanes, Hexene, Toluene are THREE APOLAR SOLVENTs, e.g. you have to remember that they are HYDROCARBONs.

Now.....do you remember that APOLAR STUFFs aren't soluble in PROTIC Ones? Water result the STRONGEST among THREE POLAR SOLVENTs and the LONELY PROTIC among the THREE Ones....I believe Acetone might dissolve the THREE HYDROCARBONs, I have doubts for ETHANOL.....

Heptanes are present in Usual FUEL despite HEXENE or TOLUENE.
HEXENE belongs to OLEFYANT GAS since it shows a flame having an appearance as OIL.
TOLUENE belongs to AROMATIC HYDROCARBONs, so it shows a DIRTY flame dragging many COAL-PARTICLEs.

I hope this helps you.

Like dissolves like. These being nonpolar, would not dissolve in water. The other 2 are organic, ethanol slightly more polar than acetone. They should dissolve all 3.

Toluene is not a clean fuel.

The other 2 will give CO2 and H2O with enough O2 present.
