If you do them yourself...they hurt for about a day and you have minimal infections. If you get them done professionally, they hurt for about a week and they get infected a bit easier. At least...That has been my experience.
14 pairs altogether, 1 done pro when I was little, it hurt like a b****, 1 my mom did and it was fine, the other 5 pairs I did myself and they also turned out fine, except for one because I went crooked.
As one girl said above, yes it does depend on the person. Some people can take pain more than other people.

i have 4 piercings, 2 in each ear and i only felt pain for like 2 seconds after the lady had peirced them

how long it hirts.i just got my ears pierced (1/11/07) and it only hirt about am hour and when u turn them to make the hole looser it stings a little and it makes it feel better and after about 3 to 4 months u can sleep with out them.

I pierced them in the morning and they were a little hurt until that night.

It really doesn't hurt it basically feels like your getting a shot in your ear

It just hurt me (slighly) the first day. I find the best time to get pierced is in the winter....the cold seems to help.

if it`s done properly, by a professional, it shouldn`t hurt at all afterwards...just be sure to follow the after-care instructions to ensure it heals properly & it doesn`t get infected...
