I totally agree with you Depo is a horrible drug. I was on it for over 4 years, I know. The whole four years I was on it, I didn't get my period. I was young (19-23) so I didn't know how badly this will affect my body, the doctor didn't tell me either. In fact the only "side affects" they told me about was weight gain, a heavy flow the first month on the shot, then the possibility of no periods. I had sever weight gain (35 pounds), sever hair loss, mood swings, depression, almost everything you had. The doctor never wanted to admit a like to my sicknesses to the Depo. It wasn't until I get fed up and did my own research that I found out how bad it was. I got off Depo because my husband and I wanted to have a baby, of course we though - get off the shot, get pregnant. Luckily for us it only took 4 months of serious trying (sex everyday). I doubt there is a class action law suit going on, and even if there were your recovery would not even cover you expenses to persue the suit. I'm sorry you had to go through what you did. I know just how you feel and I hope you get better soon, it takes a while to get out of your system.

Depo is bad. There are no lawsuits that I am aware of for the shot. I have had a h3ll of a time with the shot too. What a story do I have to tell you. I'm only 15 and I use to be the happy teenager, hung out at the mall, was going to be on the cheerleading team, etc. Oh, and for me, I gained 5lbs of water weight when it started wearing off

Here are a list of my side effects:
- gained 18 lbs (which I struggle to lose
- 2 migraines and I've never had any before the shot
- increased appetite
- excess fatigue (I would sleep for 18 hours straight and could never get up)
- cravings
- moodiness
- chills (which may/may not be associated with the Depo_
- a 3 month CONSTANT long period that I have yet to fix (going to GYN on Wed)

Hi, i understand exactly what you are going through i was on Depo provera about 6 years ago i hada few side effects nothing major but i was assured it was'nt causing them. then three years ago i started it again and straight after the first jag i started getting a whole bunch of side effects many of the ones you have described and more, It is now 3 years later and i am still working on getting rid of the last of the side effects! there is no class action suits against the company who produces and patents it for that matter or any other medical institutes for prescribing it. I presonally feel this is wrong.
I understand what the women above me said that by taking a drug you are agreeing to the side effects. but alot of the side effects never used to be stated on the drug until recently i think ??and some side effects are'nt noted. And as you said it is made out to be that the side effects will come up once in a blue moon, when that is most certainly not the case!!! I have read so many stories of women and children basically with such severe side effects from this ridiculous drug. Also i would never of considered depo provera if my doctor had'nt been the one who had recommended it to me and assured me that at most i would probally only gain a few pounds on it. and that is the case with most women. Also the drug is mostly prescribed to teenagers as it is one of the cheapest forms of contraceptives on the market today as the company who produces it has produced and patented the chemical form of progesterone they use in the drug thats what makes it so cheap and dangerous. And of the teenagers who have been prescribed it alot of them have ended up with severe side effects also including infertility!! If there was a lawsuit i think most women would be on the bandwagon thanks for the post a lot of women need to hear about this horrible drug.
Also you said that you are still experiencing the side effects if you want any tips and info on how to detox the drug out your system please feel free to contact me through this. Good luck with your recovery.

Well, I was on Depo for over 9 years, and I never had any problems until about the last 9 months that I was on it. My "side effects" were not as severe as yours, but you have to know that by CHOOSING to take a prescription drug, you are agreeing to any and all side effects that could occur and you are the only one responsible for your decision to take it. I think that a lawsuit is just another way to get rich quick in our overly litigious society. You should be thankful that you are no longer on the drug and move on with your life. It will only cause you more anxiety and pain if you were to try to pursue the drug company.
