i dont think everybody does, otherwise there wouldnt be depressed or emo people

That is very untrue. Not everyone is self-centered.
Yes, we are important to the ones we love and such, but that doesn't mean everyone believes that "They" are so important and necessary, that if they died the world would end.
I'm not being mean, I'm being honest.
