I am 32 weeks and my baby is breech. My dr. said most babies will turn by the 35th week, if not they will try to turn it themselves. Has anyone had thier baby turned? Did it work? Hurt? I heard that it hurts and most of the babies turn back into the breech position. When do they usually try turning a breech baby?

I was pregnant with transverse twins (both were laying sideways). I had a c-section with them, was never offered a version, so I can't really offer too much as far as experience with that. Just wanted to tell you about a website with great tips for encouraging your baby to turn. It's www.spinningbabies.com. I wish I had found it when I was pregnant with my twins so I could have possibly saved myself from a very much unwanted c-section.
Also, know that it is very much possible for this baby to turn head down after you go in labor. I would strongly suggest you check out that website and start practicing the optimal fetal positioning now through the end of your pregnancy. If that doesn't work then allow your body to go into labor and see if laboring doesn't cause the baby to turn. (I have many friends on an online support group who have waited for labor and their babies have turned). At least that way if you do end up with a c-section you will know that you tried everything you could to get your baby to turn.

I've heard it hurts. However, many if not most breech babies WILL turn on their own before labor begins. Most doctors will wait as long as possible to attempt to turn the baby, so probably 36 or 37 weeks, MAYBE later, but if they wait until the baby is in the birth canal, it's much more complicated.

There are also some methods you can attempt at home to cause the baby to turn. I have provided a link to those below.

Good luck!

I simply had my son on one million-two-09, and he used to be breech. I needed to have c-segment. Some medical professionals will endorse an outside variant (in which the externally attempt to flip the little one). A pal of mine's mom had one and mentioned it used to be enormously painful. The option is as much as you. My healthcare professional did not advise it. She mentioned that she did not think that the professionals outweighed the cons. She mentioned she feels the whole lot occurs for a motive, and that there is also a distinctive motive why a little one is in breech role. She mentioned if the umbilical wire is across the infants neck and an outside variant is tried it could possibly choke the little one and intent different disorders. She mentioned if it used to be her, she would not wish any individual looking to flip her little one. It too can positioned undue pressure on each the little one and also you. I felt the identical means. So I had my son by way of c-segment. It wasn't too unhealthy. The first few days have been the toughest, however then after that matters received higher and I used to be feeling well in a few weeks. My son grew to become breech at 26 weeks and certainly not flipped. They say infants are almost always of their delivery role by way of 36-37 weeks, and if they're breech at that factor they most likely keep that means. That's to not say that a few infants nonetheless may not flip.

The procedure you are referring to is called a version. It is quite painful and is not without risk. It should be done in hospital where you and baby can be monitored throughout the procedure and for a little while after. You need to discuss the risks of a version vs a c-section with your doctor. This is a tough choice in my opinion, but you need to be informed of the benefits and risks of both. There is a chance of complications with the version, and you ending up with an emergency c-section, and there is always a chance that a turned baby will turn back. Please explore all your options thoroughly before making a decision. Take care.

my doctor just talked to me about this. she said that it is very painful. that i would probably come out with bruises. some women have to get an epidural to have it done because it is very painful. she said that most women end up not getting it done because it's more painful than just having a c-section. i also know a lady that had her baby turned and it was not a good thing. the baby got tangled in the cord and pretty much almost died and is not right. the are in a huge lawsuit right now.

Okay lets think about this for a second... to turn an unborn baby one would have to stick their hands/arms up the birth canal lol come on. If that isnt funny enough, they would have to get a hold of the baby to turn it lol come on. Most babies are breech thought the pregnancy and turn before the 9th month or just before birth. You can't turn the baby, if the baby doesnt turn you can still have a regular birth but youre most likely to have a c-section.

I wonder the same thing. I am terrified of having a c-section, but this baby doesn't seem to want to turn. He still moves around plenty, but when he manages to get in an up and down position, he starts kicking like crazy till he gets himself sideways again. My mom had to have me turned when she was in labor and she said it was worse than the labor itself.
