I love Gwen and all, but I'm sorry, she acted more like a guest judge than she did a vocal coach. I don't think she's that brilliant of a vocalist to be coaching them. I don't know. Her shoes were cute, though.

Who's with me?

I think she's a decent singer with pretty good experience for her age... However, I would agree that (at least on the clips that were shown on TV) she didn't seem to be of much help.

I also thought last night was the worst collectively that we have seen. I mean, usually there are some good and some bad... Last night they all just seemed mediocre.

Keep in mind what we saw on television was a very brief snippet of Gwen with each contestant and then her quick synopsis of how she thought each contestant would perform. What we saw was chosen by the show's editors and producers and not the complete story. Since we don't know anything of the footage that hit the editting room floor, and so it is impossible to say if she did more coaching or judging when she was with the contestants.

From what I saw of her, I thought she was very articulate, came across very professionally!

I don't agree. I think she was just offering her opinion. And I think she was right on the money last night. You don't have to be the BEST vocalist to have a good ear. I'm sure Gwen's been around tons of singers and knows quite a bit about music.

I'm with you - I really don't think Gwen is talented enough to be judging the contestants on Amer. Idol. I mean, they needed someone older with a lot more experience in the singing world.

I agree, she didn't give a geat insight to needed suggestions that to me a good vocal coach would have given. I guess at this point they're just trying to break the mononity and adding celebrities they can obtain to keep ratings boosted?

Heck, if Paula Abdul (who can't sing at all) can be in a position to judge people's vocals, then I guess Gwen can too.

I love her too but I agree with you. I don’t think she was much of a ‘coach’, she seemed to be saying the same thing for everyone…”I hope they don’t over do it because this song really doesn’t need it, just as long as they go with the melody…” I did think she looked great!

She was very honest compared to a lot of the coaches, I thought. She did seem rather blah and bland though. Not what I would have expected from her.

I think stars go on these shows for the PR to plug their latest CD. I think the older stars like the paycheck and to it makes them feel like people are giving them respect.
