Just do a quick search on American politics, and you will see that corruption is a human condition in developed countries because corruption is about power..."absolute power corrupts absolutely"...I don't know who said this, but it is true.
In fact, I would argue the opposite of your statement. If you see more primitive cultures, they are absolutely honest...they have no corruption...

Corruption , is corruption no matter the level and no matter the status of the country. In under or developing countries the corruption is more overt and open than in developed countries. In developed countries, corruption is said not to exist, or at least , be covert. No country is infallible to it. Every so often, in every country, politicians, government workers, lie, cheat, mislead, steal and misuse the public trust. Unavoidable, considering the numbers who work in thoes positions. When corruption of any kind is revealed, it must be punished and corrected , to ensure that other public service personel realize that there is a penalty to be extracted for any type of corruption..It doesn't matter what political system you have and live under, all revealed corruption should be and must be punished to benifit the masses

Although developed countries always go on about democracy and how it is better here, I find that there is still corruption. Perhaps it is not on as great a scale, but I think a large proportion of the population in the UK have lost faith in the politicians.

Politicians...no matter the country of origin...are people with power. The way that individual handles their power will dictate the level of corruption or honesty. It has nothing to do with the level of development of the country...it rests entirely in the hands of the politician in power.

Yes.
It's a matter of national will verses profiteering.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Vishnu says "If the seeds of the mustard are spread amongst the lilies, the flowers will attract hot dogs."
