I've searched this topic, yet I've not found any specific info on how Aus + NZ reacted, problems and how the children were treated. Apparently there was a big thing about it in Aus. I'm looking for more info detailed info.

There was an inquiry into their treatment by the churches which oversaw them, and often abused them. It wasn't so much WW2 refugees as orphans moved out here immediately after the war.

If I'm mistaken, the Australian War Memorial website has many useful links, and the staff are very helpful:
www.awm.gov.au

The Australian Democrats Senator Andrew Murray had a lot to do with the inquiry mentioned above: google with "Australian Government" will get you to his website.

Hundreds of our children were sent to 'friendly countries', some were used as unpaid labour
and some abused very badly.

As usual, the majority survived the separation from their families and got on with life, with no publicity.
