My husband was yacking away on the phone this morning and the nosy secretary at work was listening to his every word.. so halfway through telling me about the church easter egg hunt, he blurted out "No, it's swollen and starting to itch. I need to get in and see someone without my wife knowing."

Just because you're having a private conversation in a public place doesn't make your conversation private. Everyone seems to forget that when they are on the cell phone. What I can't stand is when someone is having a conversation that is important to them and they want everyone to hear it. I always move away from everyone as much as I can so they don't here me.

I take my calls in private....I think cell phones are a wonderful CONVENIENCE but I hate being exposed to strangers' private conversations in public and there is no escape, because they are everywhere....it is so disconcerting to be in a public restroom and hear the person next to you talking on a cell phone. Short of stuffing something in ones ears (yuck) how does one AVOID listening. If you want privacy...use a land line where you don't have to speak in a louder than normal voice to be heard and people won't be tempted or forced to listen to your "private" conversation.

I'd say something obvious such as "Sorry I'll have to call you back there are too many ears in the room" or something obviously embarrassing as your husband did. They will be sure to give you room after that.

That happened to me yesterday.I asked the lady if she would like to come closer and share my phone so she wouldn't miss anything. She quickly moved away.

I do exactly what your husband did. I start saying random stuff just to watch peoples faces.
