The mould can be cleaned off but will return unless you find the cause and address that. Mould growth is usually associated with condensation on the colder external walls. If you have not had the problem before then it may be that a something else has changed to cause this. Have you had new windows installed, have you fitted draft excluder, has there been a change to the heating system or is the family generating more moisture (more people in the house or installation of new shower say)? To cut down on condensation it is important that rooms are well heated and ventilated.

the source of the problem would need to be found and fixed. you may not have had the problem in the past because of a recent change, or it could be that the mold is inside the walls and has just now spread to the outside of them.

Go outside, check Gutters are not leaking water over walls, check all airbricks, check to see the damp proof course has not been bridges (someone put earth above level.)

first thing is get your gutters checked they maybe blocked then check for cracks in pipes cast iron pipes more than twenty years old are prone to this you can get the wall cleaned and treated to prevent this occuring the price varies from company to company but there maybe grants available to asist you see local council
