I was wondering does the yogurt replace formula for that feeding or do I need to give him formula along with the yogurt.

The yogurt does not replace the formula but he may take a little less formula because the yogurt will help fill his belly. Just be sure he still takes the recommended amount of formula each day. My daughter started eating Yobaby yogurt at 4 months when she started other spoon fed foods. To all of you who think this is too young she is 16 months and fine now, and it was done with her pediatricians ok. Your son will probably only eat an ounce or two to begin with. My daughter especially likes the vanilla flavor. My daughter still eats this yogurt everyday! Yogurt also has many health benefits. http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/benefits-of-yogurt

Try mixing a little formula in with the yogurt. I used mixtures of yogurt, pre-made formula (as in, don't just put powder in the yogurt, make the actual formula), and a little rice cereal (so that the formula didn't make the mixture so thin).
YoBaby is a good brand, but it definitely doesn't replace the formula.

I'm not sure you can give a baby that young yogurt...They don't recommend dairy until a year old. Before then, there is a higher risk of allergies and you don't want that. I'd call your doctor first. Make sure that YoBaby is okay. If not, keep him on the cereal and foods you are feeding him. It won't be much longer before he can have that stuff.

He's only six months old, and you want to give him yogurt? Why? Yogurt most definitely does NOT replace the vitamins, etc., in baby formula. If you really feel that you need to start adding different foods to supplement his diet, start with rice cereal. The best thing you can do, however, is talk to your baby's pediatrician.

I wouldn't reccommend giving a 6 month old yogurt. He still needs formula no matter what.

i'd still offer the formula he just might not drink as much as he would if he didn't eat the yogurt as well.

Formula provides the vitamins that a child would receive nursing. Since you have chose not to nurse, you need to provide formula for the first year. Also a baby should not be given milk based products until one year, as it is to hard on their systems.
