Ok, so I got my first and only shot in October. I got a mini period on the 12th. It was light and lasted like 3 days. Then I had a week of on and off pinkish discharge, basically like once a day I would notice it. Then a few days of nothing. Now, like minimal spotting. I usually get a bit of a cramp, then next time I use the bathroom, a little blood. This happens like once a day. About every other day. I have had cramps since the 12th, and lower back aches too. I have had two negative HPT's, and got a blood test today. My Dr. wants to play the well lets see what happens in time game. Just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of craziness after Depo? That stuff should be outlawed. I'm pretty sure my body hates me for ever getting it! Hehe! But really, what is going on? And is it normal?

Depo screws with your system.

Trust me, I was on it for four years and am so glad I am off of it.

I had mood swings, weight gain, and I spotted at odd times.

Hi there!

First of all, don't ever go back on Depo. I have 2 sons, and inbetween them, I was on the depo. I stopped and got pregnant no problems. Then after my youngest, I went back on it again. My husband and I decided that we would like to try for baby #3, and then that's it, so I cancelled my appointment and we have since been trying. Only problem is, it's been 2 years.

I have had real weird periods since I got off it 2 years ago, real light periods, basically like the spotting you'd get before your period, and I thought, hey, this isn't right. They also lasted 2, maybe 3 days, some months they would only last 1 day. My body went back to normal before when I got off it the first time, regular periods, normal flow, the works. I went to the dr and she did blood work. She then diagnosed me with PCOS - Polycysticoveries. I lived for a year of pure hell, because that can definately screw up your system and prevent you from having children. I was so stressed and upset it was unreal. THEN, I went back to see a different dr, and he did blood tests and it came back that the hormone that was high, was back to normal. I asked if it was possible that the original doctor had taken my blood work at ovulation time, when that level would be high and i was told yes, that is possible, because the blood work was done at a different time the second time around.

I was then put on birth control pills to see if that would help regulate my cycle and maybe getting my period going full force again. Next week I will know for sure if the pills worked or not, because I went off of them.

I full heartedly agree with you that Depo should be outlawed. I know someone who bled VERY heavy for months after depo, she went through pure hell.

I would definately do alot of research, and if you're unsure about what one doctor tells you, go and seek the advice of another doctor. I am also on a waiting list to see a gynocologist and she'll do more testing and stuff on me. Hopefully I'm pregnant before I get called for an appointment.

I wish you all the luck. I know what you're going through.

Don't go back for your second shot. Unfortunately the side effects you are experiencing are NORMAL and not as bad. Depo messed up my freshmand year of school and soon to be my sophmore. I have had my period of 13 weeks STRAIGHT. NO BREAK. You are a lucky one. I hope your side effects wear off soon. If not go to your GYN and he/she will prescribe you a low dose of BC to regulate your hormones and will take you off that after 2 months. That's what I have to do if I ever want to get rid of my period. Get well.
