Trying to turn primitive people into modern day people is impossible. It won't work, and America will have to get out and hopefully Iraq will spend so much time fighting among themselves that they will not prove a threat to the world for some time. However, Iran will probably be the next battle.

It is a civil war between three factions. And they will never come to a peaceful resolution...with or without the American involvement. The US choosing one side over another is exclusionary and wrong. In my opinion, the best thing...for the sake of so-called democracy - that the US could do is facilitate the creation of three separate territories...and then leave them be.

I doubt it, this war is a joke and the rest of the world is laughing hideously at USA, what are we gonna do now? We got our hands tied up in Iraq, Afghanistan, not to mention all the other nation we are currently 'policing'. And what will happen of the poor kidnapped UK sailors, will they be used for barter maybe?

Exactly. And when murder plots are being made against government officials by those on their own staff... how reasonable and rational are these people who we expect to be able to negotiate their own democracy?
Their response, when faced with conflict, is to kill one another.

Militias have infiltrated the police, and have been engaged in sectarian cleansing.
Iraqis don't want peace. They want to have it out. We shouldn't get in the middle of that.

It won't work, they like to kill each other and we won't stop it. They don't mind having U.S. soldiers as targets as well, but will never take any proposed solution from us as legitimate.
