Of course a man can get raped. And the same is true for both men and women, a physical response does not imply consent.

Of course a man can be raped. It doesn't happen as often as women being raped. Most men are able to overpower a women. Some are not. Thank you and may GOD come soon to right the wrongs that have been done on this earth.

You know this reminds me of the times when women were asked what they were wearing or what did They do to get a man to rape her while she is standing there humiliated, with bruised eyes and broken bones. Men can be raped, most times it goes unreported. Guys should stand up and realize they are victims and prosecute the perpetrator to the fullest extent of the law. It will put the rapist off the streets. Many times those that rape men are even more dangerous than those who rape women and girls. Get them off the streets!

I've never argued that a man can't get raped. I guess the confusion with the whole thing lies in the question of who is penetrating whom. I think most men would laugh off the thought of getting raped by a women - "can't rape the willing, har har har" etc - that's just the mentality and view of male sexuality in this society (and Phil, believe me, it's not the feminists who are desperate to reinforce gender roles. Methinks you might be the ignorant one). So I suppose that if women do rape men often - rape in this sense being the man's penis penetrating the woman's vagina - men probably won't speak up about it, because it goes against society's view of men being always willing for sex. And maybe that's why, if women do rape men at high frequency, we don't hear about it as often. Gawd, men could be getting raped every two minutes by predatory women in this country, and we'd never know. It could be the biggest tragedy of out time.

As for something penetrating the man - another penis, a wine bottle, dildo, whatever, that would be more in line with traditional forms of rape - penetration as expression of power. And I'm sure more men would be willing to come forward about this kind of rape if it occurred.

It is just more feminist B.S. and/or total ignorance. Many feminists seem to try to paint men as evil, sex-crazed monsters at every opportunity, this is not an exception.

In addition to sexual arousal, erection can be caused by friction, retraction of the foreskin, or by the pressure of the filled urinary bladder. In healthy males, erections occur several times per night during the REM phases of sleep, and morning erections when waking up are common. These are called an "unprovoked erection". It is normal for them to occur 2 to 3 times a week. This is a good sign the erection pathways are functioning well. Erections already occur in infant boys, and in utero. In this instance, it is important to note the stimulus of "friction" can cause an erection, which can be with or without desire.

EDIT Carrie, to a degree, you are correct in that many men deny the ability to be raped via PIV sex, however, their opinion is just as ignorant as a feminist saying the same thing. I am sure more feminists feel men are incapable of being raped than men who feel similarly, however, I feel sure most who deny it are simply ignorant.
Most, if not all, men who think they could not be raped because they would be willing have no idea what rape actually is, which is not sex for the enjoyment of sex but degregadation and often violence upon the victim, regardless their sex. This is no more reliable than a woman claiming women can't be raped.
Trust me on this as I am a former police officer specifically schooled in rape and have completed cases involving rape.
Most cases of rape with male victims are, as you say, unreported. The reasons are many but primarily it is due to the societal idea that men could overpower women and that men would be viewed as weak for both being raped or reporting it. In its own way, it is much more shameful and emotional for men to report rape than women.
Just read the responses here where some seem to feel it is impossible; that erection alone indicates a readiness and desire. It isn't and doesn't signify any such thing but imagine trying to convince these blockheads they are wrong in a public court.
Some people want so badly to believe their in their own blind prejudice and ignorance, truth has not a chance.

The women/men who argue that men cannot be raped are morons. Their jaded ideas about rape and arousal make some men who've been raped feel guilty for it! It's disgusting! (And btw, 'testosterone levels' are not responsible for rape ... nor do they perpetuate that type of violent behavior in men/women with higher levels ... to claim so is to say that rapists are naturally inclined to rape ... dear god!)

Oh, and to the answerer below me - to claim that a man cannot be raped is NOT a feminist statement. On the contrary, it implies that women are innately incapable and destined to victimization while men are inherently capable and invulnerable... How in the world you cast that as feminist is beyond me!

I believe man can be raped as well as women just because a man get an erection doesn't mean sex is consensual ,Man and woman are sexual being just because one get wet or erection during the act doesn't mean they want to have sex

That's nuts. Getting an erection often occurs in young men while they're sound asleep and not dreaming. There's no way one can claim that merely having an erection means a guy wants it. And just because a woman lubricates does not mean she wants to be assaulted. GROW UP!

Men get raped in prison all the time--not to mention in many other places.

And being sexually aroused does not necessarily mean you want it. If a person clearly says no, and the other person persists, it is rape.

You really do like strawman arguments, don't you?

I'm very skeptical about your claim that a lot of women think what you stated. I've never encountered a single one. You must hang out with an uneducated lot. Does that surprise me? No...not terribly. Like attracts like.
