I've never been faced with this one, but it's a situation that I know has upset you. Have you contacted the permanent marker's maker? I've done this before, and got good results (not markers ok). I know they do a lot of testing on products. It's worth a try. Hair spray brings out ink on clothes, tile I've never had, but I do have a permanet marker on my hard wood floors and I can not get it off...........like you I guess I've tried everything. What color tile do you have? You didn't say. If you can, or can find it where you purchased it there is a run number, just like brick, if you can't find it., try a chemist somewhere. They might be able to give you some ideas. Good Luck and if you do get it out pass it on. I'm sure others would like to know. Have a great day!

Go to the gas station and get some Heet for your car and take a q-tip dip it in the heet and rub it on the marker spot on the floor. I used to manage a gas station and had to do this all the time on the mirrors in the bathroom. I swear to god it really works!!

Try using a degreaser. That is what I use at work when people write on the walls with permanent marker. It takes a bit of scrubbing but it works.

Nail polish can ruin the finish. If it will come off at all safely. I would try a little baking soda. If that doesn't work you may have to replace a section of linoleum. Sorry some things are not always washable.

As an ex painter I've had to deal with the ink problem quite often and the best thing I have found to use is good old rubbing alcohol.
