If you had never used a pc-how long would it take you to feel competent?

By competent I mean able to move files around, create directories, email pictures, website publishing etc. Also faxing and using all the email programs, doing maintenance (defrag) etc.

Time will tell with practice.
Never be afraid to experiment with a system, they are hard to "break". Spend time reading the help manuals. Then try out what you have learnt. Some people find reading from a pc help book such as:

xp for dummies

A really good method for getting to grips with using a computer. All I suggest is practice, practice, practice.
