is blood diamond still gong on ?

i am writing a speech on that and i was wondering if in fact blood diamond is being exported to other conuntries and i want facts ,web sites and any other facts i can get. thank you for your help.

try looking up on wikipedia... but i also think logically there will Always be a supply and demand for diamonds unless we collectively make an effort to Stop buying diamonds, or at least Conflict free diamonds.. problem is, it is so hard to distinguish which are and are not because, for example, there were corrupt officials that stamp the certifications even tho truthfully they are blood diamonds!!!

Here are a couple of site...just a simple search got these.

Anyway, until the money countries stop buying diamonds, like we did tanzanite, we are not going to put much pressure on those countries to stop their practices.

I also know that De Beers, the largest diamond company, based in South Africa, has also made it their policy to not buy conflict diamonds, but there are numerous smaller companies with smaller mines that don't have the same stakes as De Beers to be ethical.

manufactured diamonds were a threat to DeBeers lock on the diamond market. to protect them they started the laser etched ID for every diamond under the guise of protecting the consumer from "blood diamonds". All DeBeers was protecting was their huge profits, synthetic diamonds are made from carbon in a lab and the quality has risen to the point that they are indistinguishable from found diamonds. Syn. Diamonds could have flooded the market and severely devalued diamond prices. It was all about money.
